Boeing is planning to introduce autonomous flying taxis in Asia by 2030, a company head revealed in a new interview.

The announcement comes as the company is the subject of a criminal investigation by the Department of Justice over malfeasance related to aircraft safety incidents. Still, Boeing has been busy after it acquired the aerospace company Wisk last year, utilizing its technology for electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles.

Wisk’s vehicles, which are more similar to a hybrid of helicopters and planes rather than traditional cars, are designed to reduce urban road traffic and pollution by operating in the sky. They’re not approved in the U.S. yet.
